Is Porter Road grass-fed?

Not 100%. Per Porter Road’s FAQ (Oct 29, 2026), all its products are pasture-raised: the beef grazes on grass year round (outside year-round in Kentucky; elsewhere sheltered in bad weather, in line with GAP 4 standards) and is offered a grain supplement on pasture that the cattle can eat as much or as little of as they like. Porter Road says it prefers this to a grass-only diet because grass-fed beef varies by season. It uses no growth hormones or antibiotics, and its small farms are not certified organic. It dry ages all of its beef.

If you want grass-finished beef, it costs from $8.49/lb for ground beef (Thousand Hills Lifetime Grazed, middle $14.50/lb) and from $26.46/lb for ribeye (US Wellness Meats) on Nov 4, 2026. See grass-finished beef prices and grass-fed vs grass-finished.

Where Porter Road’s meat comes from

Porter Road says it buys directly from small, family-owned farms in the United States, knows its farmers by name, and never sources from feedlots. The meat is dry aged and hand-cut at its own facility in Kentucky, with a USDA inspector on site every day. Most of its beef isn’t graded; when farmers have opted to grade, it came back USDA Prime or Choice Plus (FAQ, Oct 29, 2026).
